Sealcoating is a protective procedure used on asphalt pavements to safeguard them from water, sunlight, oils, and other damaging elements. AJM applies a layer of sealer directly onto the asphalt surface. Sealcoating offers several benefits:
AJM utilizes a unique water-based petroleum resin sealer that surpasses conventional coal tar or asphalt emulsion pavement sealers. Our product is an eco-friendly sealer that offers tough, long-lasting protection, and maintains the safety of driveways and their surroundings.
*It's generally recommended to apply sealcoating annually, especially in regions with severe weather conditions, to maintain asphalt surfaces' integrity and appearance. Proper application is crucial to avoid premature cracking or peeling.
Asphalt crack filling is a maintenance procedure used to repair cracks that develop in asphalt pavement. It involves filling the cracks with a specialized material to prevent water infiltration, further damage, and to extend the lifespan of the pavement.
Purpose: The primary goal is to prevent moisture from penetrating into the underlying layers of the pavement. Water infiltration can lead to erosion of the base materials, frost heave in cold climates, and ultimately, the formation of potholes.
Materials: AJM uses cold pour asphalt crack filler which is rubberized asphalt crack filler formulated to be flexible and fast setting for use on asphalt pavements. Crack filler provides a tough, resilient barrier against moisture for cracks up to 1/2” in width.
How AJM fills Cracks:
Benefits:
Overall, asphalt crack filling is a proactive maintenance strategy that helps preserve the integrity of asphalt pavements, ensuring they remain safe and functional for an extended period.
Potholes are depressions or holes in the pavement caused by the weakening of the underlying materials due to water infiltration, traffic stress, and freeze-thaw cycles.
The first step is to assess the extent and severity of the potholes. This helps determine the appropriate materials and methods for repair.
Materials: AJM uses cold pour asphalt crack filler which is rubberized asphalt crack filler formulated to be flexible and fast setting for use on asphalt pavements. Crack filler provides a tough, resilient barrier against moisture for cracks up to 1/2” in width.
AJM uses Cold Mix Asphalt for smaller potholes and compacts it with specialized tools.
For larger or more severe potholes, Hot Mix Asphalt may be necessary. It involves heating asphalt to a specified temperature, applying it into the pothole, and compacting it with heavy equipment.
How AJM patches potholes:
Timing: Pothole patching is typically performed before the sealcoating process, which allows sufficient time for the patch to set and harden.
Sealing: Sealing over the patched area help prolong the lifespan of the repair and improve aesthetics.
Driveway pothole patching is essential for maintaining the integrity and safety of the driveway surface. Prompt repair of potholes prevents further damage, reduces the risk of vehicle damage, and enhances the overall appearance of the driveway. Regular inspection and maintenance can help identify potholes early and address them before they worsen.
